Support for eating disorders

Providing support for individuals aged 16 and over who have an eating disorder or are experiencing eating difficulties.

First Steps ED provide funded support for individuals aged 16 and over who have an eating disorder or are experiencing eating difficulties, including ARFID.

Their commissioned support includes:

  • CBT-T-informed one-to-one support
  • CBT-E
  • A range of workshops, including body image and binge eating
  • Befriending

They also provide support for children aged 5–12 with ARFID. Their commissioned services for this age group include:

  • One-to-one support
  • ARFID workshop
  • Parent and carer workshops specifically for ARFID

For children under the age of 5, they are unable to offer direct support, but parents and carers can still access their ARFID parent and carer workshops.

Please note that referrals for children under 12 requiring ARFID support must be made by a professional, as they are currently unable to accept self-referrals for this age group.

They need to conduct an assessment with individuals referred to them to determine if they meet their criteria and the support mentioned above is conducted online. They primarily support early intervention, mild and moderate eating presentations, and regular medical monitoring with a GP or other healthcare professional is essential throughout the duration of any support they provide.
