Vapes and the law

Retailers are not allowed to sell any vaping products to anyone under the age of 18.

In June 2025 single-use disposable vapes will be banned in England and Wales; this is happening because they are often appealing to young people, bad for the environment and easy to get hold of.

There are rules to stop vape companies from advertising and promoting their products in ways that attract young people.

The government is considering the option of permitting doctors to prescribe vaping products as a method to help adults quit smoking. This highlights that vaping is primarily viewed as a tool for adults who want to stop smoking rather than something intended for young people or non-smokers.
