Introducing your school nursing service

The school nursing service is available for young people across Leicester City and is run by Healthy Together.

Through your school, you can access health support and advice directly from your school nurse.

They will be able to help you with lots of different things, including:

  • Mental and emotional health worries
  • Sleep issues
  • Anxiety and other worries
  • Relationships
  • Sexual health
  • Exam stress
  • And much, much more!

If you’d like to make an appointment to see the school nurse in school, talk to a member of staff at school who will tell you how you can do this.

Seeing your school nurse face-to-face

Currently, you will be asked to wear a face covering when seeing a school nurse in school.

If you are being seen at home, you and your family can chose to wear a face covering. Wearing a face mask can lower the risk of transmitting coronavirus. However, some people won’t be able to wear a face covering for health reasons.

All nurses will assess each contact for coronavirus related risk.

Contacting a school nurse via text

You can also contact a school nurse through our secure, confidential text messaging service, ChatHealth. Find out more about this and the number to text here.

Health and wellbeing forms

If you are in Year 7, Year 9 or Year 11, you may be asked to complete one of our online health and wellbeing forms.  This is a confidential form and the information you put on them is only seen by school nurses.

By completing your health and wellbeing questionnaire, you are helping the school nursing team to understand your health needs and offer any support you may need either online or face-to-face.

You will also be helping to identify key health topics within your school, enabling the team to work with your school to support everyone’s physical, mental and emotional needs.
