Call or text your school nurse for help and advice

Did you know that you can call or text your school nurse for free and confidential advice and support?

We get it; sometimes it might feel too uncomfortable to ask a difficult question in person or you might struggle to find time to see your school nurse in-between all of your lessons, revision and maybe your part-time job. Don’t worry. You can still get the same great service from your phone. Get support on everything from sleep and healthy lifestyle advice, to relationship support to help with emotional and mental health, anxiety and worry, understanding anger and self-harm or low mood – as well as lots more!

School nurses can help by providing you with resources and advice. When more specialist support is needed, they can signpost and direct you to where to get more help, or refer you for more support from a specialist.

There are two ways you can contact your school nurse:

  • The Healthy Together Helpline
  • Chathealth

The Healthy Together Helpline

The Healthy Together Helpline allows you to chat on the phone to a school nurse or qualified health professional who will give you free, confidential and easy to access advice and support. It is open to anyone aged 11-19 living or going to school in Leicester.

Simply call 0300 300 3001. Calls will be answered from 9am – 4.30pm on weekdays, excluding bank holidays.

ChatHealth

Young people in Leicester City can also speak to a school nurse by texting the Chat Health service on 07520 615381. The service is available Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm throughout the year, excluding bank holidays.

More advice for young people is also available on the Health for Teens website: www.healthforteens.co.uk .
