Health

THRIVE – Young Person’s Clinic in Harpenden and St. Albans area

If you are aged 11-25, you can access a dedicated young person’s clinic in the St. Albans and Harpenden area. If you are registered with a GP in these areas you can make an appointment through your own GP to attend a young person’s clinic.

The GPs are especially trained to work with young people of your age groups and can advise and support you with any issues or concerns you have about your emotional and physical health.

Remember – book an appointment through your own GP to be seen at one of these clinics.

Teens Unite – cancer support for young people from 13-24 years

Teens Unite is a support organisation for teenagers who have been diagnosed with cancer although it offers support for 13 years to 24 years.  At a time when a young person can feel very vulnerable, Teens Unite bring 13-24 year olds together.

Through workshops, activity days and residential stays, Teens Unite provides the on-going social, emotional and physical support needed by these young people.  Cancer does not stop when treatment stop, the effects of a cancer diagnosis can be long lasting and often life changing and affects family and friends around the young person with the condition.

Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC)

Hertfordshire Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) is  an Independent, supportive service for people over the age of 13 that have experienced a form of sexual abuse, whether that be rape, sexual exploitation, grooming or sexual assault.

Through the SARC, people can access an ISVA – Independent Sexual Violence Advisor. The role of an ISVA to give independent information and support so victims can make the right decisions for them on how they want to move forwards.

Through the SARC – people that have experienced sexual abuse recently and are unsure as to whether they want to report to the police can meet a nurse and have a forensic medical examination, any forensics gained would then be stored for an amount of time to give victims an opportunity to consider what they would like to do regarding reporting to the police.
