Webchat: Nutrition and Hydration week: 13/03/17

Join us for a chat from 4:30pm on Monday 13th March 2017.

Did you know the 13th March is a global Nutrition and hydration awareness week? Join us online for a webchat on Monday 13th March 4.30-5pm to talk to a school nurse about ways to improve your eating and drinking habits. Look after the skin you’re in!

3, Keeps your skin healthy

Steps to eating well ...
1,Avoid skipping meals and space your meals out over the day, this will not help control your appetite but will help control your blood sugars

Include starchy Carbohydrate foods as part of your diet

Examples of theses foods include,
Bread
Pasta
Chapattis
Potatoes
Yam
Noodles
Rice and Cereals.

Remember the amount of Carbohydrate you eat is also important as this helps control your blood glucose levels, better choices of theses would include

Grainy breads such as Granary or Rye
Potatoes should be New Potatoes, Sweet Potato or Yam

Also try to cut down on the amount of fat you eat, choose unsaturated fats or oils such as Olive oil or Rapeseed oil as these types of fats are better for your heart, Fat is the greatest source of calories, eating less will help you to loose weight if you need to.

Eat more fruit and vegetables
Aim for at least 5 portions a day to provide you with vitamins, fibre and minerals to help you to balance your overall diet.

Limit sugary foods and sugar
Reduce your Salt intake to 6g or less a day
Aim for at least two portions of oily fish a week
