Welcome to today's webchat on anaphylaxis and christmas.

If you are living with allergies christmas can be a difficult time to manage. There are lots of parties and also lots of decorations around all of which could possibly affect allergies. How do you manage your allergies at this time of year?

Chat Health (Nurse - Moderator) / 4 Dec 16:38

If you are going to a party and you have food allergies it is important to make sure that people know about your allergies. Friends or family will not mind making sure that there is food that is safe for you. If you can't make contact with the people making the food it may be safer to take some of your own food.

Allergy UK and the Anaphylaxis campaign have lots of advice on managing your allergies

If you are going to be drinking alcohol over the christmas period then this may affect your allergies.
Anaphylaxis Campaign have shared this video on their twitter page about alcohol

Whatever you are doing over christmas it's important to remember to have your medication with you and to make sure that at least one person that you are with knows about your allergy

Christmas decorations could also affect allergies. If you know that you have allergies you may need to consider decorations such as artificial trees to reduce the impact of allergies.
