is mindfulness the same as positive mental health?

User has removed their details / 11 Apr 15:34

Positive mental health is an umbrella term. Mindfulness is a strategy to help with wellbeing. Positive mental health includes thinking about our physical wellbeing, emotional wellbeing and mental wellbeing.

Does anyone have any ideas or tools they use to promote positive mental and emotional wellbeing in their lives?

JumpingBear / 11 Apr 15:41

listen to music

whenever anybody asks about positive mental health (PMH) I would always ask; what do you do to look after yourself physically and emotionally, e.g Eating healthily, drinking plenty, resting, relaxing and staying physically fit, as well as staying connected with family and friends, reminding ourselves of what we are good at and having fun :)

YawningHorse / 11 Apr 15:43

Everyone tells me to exercise but I can't

User has removed their details / 11 Apr 15:45

Yes listening to music can promote PMH, being creative, trying something new and creating new challenges, new opportunities and building resilience. This builds new experiences, especially learning from things we may struggle with. We learn more about ourselves.

how can i build resilience

User has removed their details / 11 Apr 15:47

If physical activity isn't for you, what new challenge could you set yourself? Each step follows another - take small steps.

What else can I do

User has removed their details / 11 Apr 15:50

A way to reframe any negative thought maybe; 'I can't' or 'I wish I could' to....
'Who could help me?', 'I think i can' to 'I'm going to try..'

User has removed their details / 11 Apr 15:53

Resilience can be thought of quite simply as having the ability to 'bounce back' to find our way through any difficulties we face. This is a process of learning, trying, failing and succeeding. We will all do this differently as we all have different life experiences and are unique :)

User has removed their details / 11 Apr 15:56

Well Yawning Horse, here are some other strategies for you;
- Joining a community group
- Volunteering
- Learning a new skill
- Rock Climbing
- Baking
- Learning a language
- Be curious about your surroundings
- Connect with friends
- Plan a new adventure
- Ask for help if you are stuck
- Give yourself permission to take a break, relax, give yourself me time :)
